Job

Postdoctoral Fellow

A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the Antibody Engineering Program core facility, under the direction of Dr. Mitchell Ho, at the National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland, USA.

About the position

A postdoctoral fellow position is available immediately in the Antibody Engineering Program (AEP) core facility under Dr. Mitchell Ho at the Center for Cancer Research (CCR), National Cancer Institute (NCI) in Bethesda, Maryland, USA. Single-domain antibodies (also known as nanobodies) have the unique ability to access buried epitopes, modulate protein structure and function, and are small, stable, and readily expressed in both bacterial and mammalian cells. These properties make them attractive building blocks for cancer therapeutics, including gene- and cell-based therapies, bispecific antibodies and cell engagers, radiopharmaceuticals, and targeted protein degraders. They also serve as powerful research tools for advancing fundamental biology, particularly in structural biology and high-resolution microscopy. Dr. Ho's laboratory at the NCI has constructed large phage-displayed shark and camel nanobody libraries. Postdoctoral fellows in the Antibody Engineering Program (AEP) will receive training in both experimental and computational protein engineering and contribute to methodological and technological advances in antibody engineering and therapeutics within a highly collaborative research environment. A competitive postdoctoral candidate will lead an independent research project focused on advancing modern antibody engineering technologies while also participating in multiple collaborative projects with NIH intramural laboratories to develop novel therapeutic strategies and innovative research tools.
