The Stroke Branch of the NIH NINDS Neurovascular Research Unit, lead by Dr. Amreen Mughal, is now seeking a postdoctoral fellow to work on cutting-edge image analysis tasks, involving deep learning for computer vision, as part of the laboratory's in-vivo imaging projects.
About the position
The NINDS Stroke Branch, housed on NIH's main Bethesda campus, focuses on both basic and translational clinical as well as epidemiological research into all aspects of stroke, acute traumatic brain injury, and vascular cognitive impairment. Our branch is responsible for important basic and translation contributions to our fields understanding of stroke and related disorders and diseases.
Now, The Mughal Laboratory is seeking a motivated candidate to study the neurovascular coupling mechanisms involved in the regulation of brain blood flow and the associated clearance of metabolic by-products. This position is best suited for a postdoctoral fellow eager to work on cutting-edge image analysis tasks involving deep learning for computer vision.
Accordingly, this fellow will handle a diverse set of image types, including multi-photon, wide-field, confocal microscopy, functional MRI and functional ultrasound. Prior experience in programming in Python and/or MATLAB, as well as prior knowledge of signal processing, including ML-AI and basic microscopy modalities (such as Image stabilization, motion-correction, noise removal and image segmentation) are required.
The most successful candidates will be self-motivated, have a desire to learn new skills, and be prepared to join a multidisciplinary, diverse, and highly-interactive team of researchers within NIH's collaborative and supportive scientific environment.
This position is fully supported by NIH/NINDS funding. Candidates will be provided health insurances and a competitive stipend commensurate with their experience.
