Job

Staff Scientist (NIEHS)

The NIH National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences Epidemiology Branch in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, is now recruiting a Staff Scientist to support our research in the Chronic Disease Epidemiology Group and investigate autoimmune diseases across longitudinal cohort studies, including the Sister Study and the Gulf Long-term Follow-up (GuLF) Study led by Dr. Dale Sandler.

About the position

Prospective staff scientists wil work on the Sister Study and GuLF Study to provide oversight, management, and scientific leadership for these projects and use study data to investigate research questions related to autoimmune disease. Our research questions include studies of genetic, epigenetic, and immunoproteomic biomarkers of autoimmune disease and the risk factors related to serological profiles of autoimmunity.

In addition to conducting independent and collaborative epidemiologic research using study data, this Staff Scientist will help guide our students and other investigators, primarily through the facilitation of collaborations between intramural and extramural NIH scientists, as well as government contractors, to oversee our data management, initiate data sharing, and communicate study results to a wide range of our constituencies that include the broader scientific community, several governmental agencies, oversight committees, our study participants, and the press.

This Staff Scientist will be an NIH Title 42 (g) employee generally appointed to a time-limited, renewable position to support the long-term research of a Principal Investigator. Staff Scientists do not receive independent resources but do work independently.
