About the position

The Muscle Disease Unit (MDU) of the National Institutes of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases (NIAMS) is recruiting for a Post-Doctoral Fellow. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the highly motivated and interdisciplinary team of scientists, students and clinicians aiming to identify mechanisms and new treatment options for various autoimmune muscle diseases. Our group is specifically vested in understanding the role of autoantibodies combined with the recent availability of drugs targeting B cells offer an exciting window of opportunity to connect bench and bedside for the benefit of the patient.

We are looking for a highly motivated, curious and enthusiastic post-doc with extensive experience in molecular biology and/or animal models of immune-mediated disease to join our lively and dedicated team to elucidate molecular mechanisms of immune-mediated muscle diseases. You will work with and develop cutting-edge single-cell genomic technologies(e.g., RNA-seq and spatial transcriptomics), in combination with traditional experimental approached using in vitro cell culture models. The position offers the applicant a unique opportunity to work on important medical issues in a community of interactive research labs, bioinformatics experts, core facilities, and computational resources.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess and M.D. and/or a Ph.D. in one of the biomedical sciences. A record of peer-reviewed publications is required. The successful candidate should have strong communications skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
