Postdoctoral Fellowship, Penn State TCORS

About the position

The Penn State Tobacco Center of Regulatory Science is accepting applications for a postdoctoral fellow to support projects funded by the NIH/FDA and led by Drs. Thomas Spratt and Zachary Bitzer. The fellow’s primary responsibilities will be investigating the health effects of free radical and toxicant production from electronic cigarettes. The experimental approaches will range from in vitro chemistry to animal models and human research. Successful applicants should have a doctoral degree in chemistry, biology, or a related field and skills in bench research. Interested applicants with a range of clinical and laboratory-based skills and doctoral degrees will be considered for the position. Prior experience in assays of tobacco toxicant exposure, while encouraged, is not required. The fellow will be located at the Penn State College of Medicine in Hershey, Pennsylvania. The fellowship comes with a competitive salary, funds for conference travel, and opportunities for collaboration and training at NIH/FDA-funded TCORS across the United States. The fellowship is available beginning Spring 2024 and is intended to be a 2-year position with the potential to extend for a third year.
