The Jülich Research Center in Jülich, Germany, is now recruiting PhD candidates to complete a degree in computational neuroscience as part of a working research fellowship.
About the position
The German ministry BMFTR is now offering candidates from the USA the opportunity to complete a PhD as part of a 'Hop-On Fellowship' at the Jülich Research Center. This program is part of the Collaborative Research in Computation Neuroscience project spearheaded by Dr. Stefan Mihalas at the Allen Institute and Drs. Markus Diesmann and Sacha van Albada at the Jülich Research Center.
The 'Collaborative Research in Computation Neuroscience' project centers on the modeling of the mouse thalamocortical visual system using the rich Allen Institute anatomical and physiological datasets and the Jülich Research Center's expertise on modeling large-scale spiking neural networks. Candidates will complete a closely related PhD project to enhance the biological realism of our functional models and can this expect to gain insight into the relationships between cortical structure, dynamics, and function.
Candidates will be embedded in the Jülich Research Center's Institute for Advanced Simulation and have opportunities to collaborative with USA and German PIs.
This fellowship includes student's salary and travel costs to and from Germany. Candidates may work from the USA for up to two months a year. Candidates are also eligible for up to 150 euros a month to cover childcare costs.

Qualifications
