Phil Ryan serves as Director of the Graduate Partnerships Program, working with NIH GPP students, summer graduate programs, the Translational Science Training Program as well as giving workshops and seminars on mentoring, and career and professional development topics.

Phil Ryan earned his bachelor’s degree in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Davis in 2001. After a 2-year postbac, Phil joined the National Institutes of Health, Graduate Partnerships Program (GPP) in collaboration with the George Washington University to pursue his PhD in genetics. In October of 2008, he successfully defended his dissertation and began work as a Postdoctoral fellow. After a short internship in 2011 he joined the NIH Office of Intramural Training & Education and within a year became the Director of Student Services for the NIH. He currently serves as Deputy Director, Graduate Programs and Student Services, working with NIH GPP students, summer graduate programs, the Translational Science Training Program as well as giving workshops and seminars on mentoring, and career and professional development topics.
