Event

Postbac Success Academy

Speakers: Sharon Milgram and other OITE staff

About this event

We are excited to introduce the Postbac Success Academy, a comprehensive 2-day program hosted by the Office of Intramural Training & Education, with the aim of enhancing the success of postbacs during their time at the NIH. This initiative is a collaborative effort, with active participation and support from various institutes and centers. Throughout the event, dedicated training staff will be available to provide guidance and insights.

We strongly recommend the participation of postbacs who have joined NIH positions since January 2023.

The program will cover a wide range of topics critical for postbac success, including understanding NIH workplace culture, navigating NIH rules and regulation, learning effective time management, goal-setting strategies, navigating career services and educational advising, and wellness programing. Additionally, participants will earn credit for completing the mandatory “Your Rights and Responsibilities” training.

How to attend

This is a hybrid event, held in person on the NIH Bethesda campus. We strongly encourage local participants to join us in person as there are substantial benefits to networking with colleagues, taking a walk across campus, and getting out of the research space. We also encourage trainees and fellows on other campuses to gather for “watch parties” for the same reasons.
