About the position
Dr. Mooney joined the NIH from the University of Washington in 2024. His research group has interests in data science and artificial intelligence in biomedicine, clinical informatics, and in developing new methods to predict and characterize pathogenic genetic variants on the human genome.Dr. Mooney's group participates in the organization of data science challenges focused on difficult problems in biomedical research such as Critical Assessments and DREAM Challenges.
This position will learn and build significant expertise in machine learning methods to aid genome interpretation. The Mooney group has particular interest in understanding biological and molecular contributions to both pathogenicity of genetic variants and how they contribute to severity and expressivity of genetic disease. The position will require strong collaboration skills as well as a desire to learn new and innovative computational techniques to address this problem.
