Postdoctoral Fellow

The Stem Cells Toxicology Group of the NIEHS Mechanistic Toxicology Branch is current seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to join their team in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina.

About the position

As a fellow in our lab, your project will use pluripotent stem cells to develop and apply cardiac and cerebral organoids to study chemically-induced fibrosis. Several research tools, such as cell culture/maintenance, cell-based assays, molecular biology, high-throughput screening, high-content imaging, and transcriptomics, will be used in effort to advance this project.

Prospective candidates will have the opportunity to use these aforementioned approaches to advance our understanding of the mechanistic linkages between drug- and environmental-exposures and fibrosis. You will also learn about the development and optimization of biologically and physiologically relevant in vitro new approach methodologies that we use to investigate toxicity and disease development.

Postdoctoral fellows are considered as professionals-in-training and are not classified as NIH employees. However, medical insurance is provided, and stipends are commensurate with experience. Qualifications

Prospective applicants must have a PhD in cell biology, toxicology, or related field, completed within the past 5 years. Experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques is required, while experience working with pluripotent stem cells and 3D organoids is highly desired. Possessing a demonstrated experience and aptitude for developing novel in vitro approaches is also highly sought after, as are excellent communication skills, and the ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
