A postdoctoral position is available in the Yarchoan lab to study viral oncogenesis and the development of novel therapies for virally induced cancer and related conditions. The Yarchoan lab is a currently focused on cancers and related conditions caused by Kaposi sarcoma-associated herpesvirus (KSHV).
About the position
The lab encompasses a clinical/translational effort in addition to laboratory studies. Some of the ongoing projects include investigation of KSHV biology and the pathogenesis of diseases caused by KSHV including sarcoma (KS), primary effusion lymphoma (PEL), KSHV-multicentric Castleman disease (KSHV-MCD), and a condition initially described by our group called KSHV-inflammatory cytokine syndrome (KICS).
In addition, we are developing novel therapies for these conditions based on an understanding of the pathogenesis.

The Yarchoan lab is part of the HIV and AIDS Malignancy Branch, a dynamic group of investigators working on related problems in viral oncogenesis. The Branch is highly collaborative and includes a unique and vibrant clinical program in HIV malignancy as well laboratory-based investigators, and the research in the Yarchoan lab includes translational studies of individuals with KSHV-induced diseases. The lab offers extensive expertise and access to state-of-the-art techniques.
We are looking for individuals with a strong laboratory research background in molecular virology who are eager to pursue an innovative research program with a translational focus.
