Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine is now seeking a research‑intensive faculty member with expertise in microbiology and infectious diseases to join our founding biomedical sciences faculty.
About the position
This position is a tenure/tenure‑track appointment, contingent upon the availability of extramural research funding. It carries a distribution of effort of approximately 60% research, 30% teaching, and 10% service. The successful candidate will lead an established infectious disease translational research laboratory, develop and sustain a productive, externally funded research program, and contribute to microbiology education within our undergraduate medical curriculum.

Qualifications
Applicants must have a doctoral degree (PhD, MD/PhD) in microbiology or infectious diseases, as well as postdoctoral training or equivalent research experience. They should have a demonstrated record of scholarly productivity, including peer‑reviewed publications. They should also have evidence of or a strong potential to obtain extramural research funding, a demonstrated potential for mentoring students and research personnel, and strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
