The NIH National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) Office of the Clinical Director, under the direction of Dr. David Goldman, is now seeking a highly-motivated Physician to fill a Staff Clinician position in Bethesda, Maryland.
About the position
The Office of the Clinical Director conducts cutting-edge clinical and translational research aimed at understanding the genetic, neurobiological, and behavioral mechanisms underlying alcohol use disorder and related conditions. Our research protocols include inpatient and outpatient studies involving human subjects, with an emphasis on integrating clinical phenotyping, neuroimaging, and genomics to advance precision medicine approaches to addiction. The primary responsibilities of this position include the clinical evaluation and medical management of research participants with alcohol use disorder and co-occurring conditions, including the design and implementation of clinical research protocols and the subsequently necessary collaboration with our multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, psychologists, and research staff.
This Staff Clinician will also contribute to protocol development, data interpretation, and dissemination of research findings. As such, candidates with a strong interest in clinical research and a track record of scholarly activity in addiction medicine or related fields are highly encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
Candidates must have an MD or DO degree, be board-certified or board-eligible in Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, and/or a related specialty, and be eligible for medical licensure in the United States.
Experience in the clinical management of Alcohol Use Disorder is required. Ideal candidates will have experience in clinical research, familiarity with Good Clinical Practice, and strong communication and teamwork skills. Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, in accordance with NIH guidelines.
