Qualifications

Prospective applicants should have a Ph.D. in engineering, physics, applied physics, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, optical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a closely related field. Candidates with strong hands-on experimental backgrounds in spectroscopy, imaging, optics, or instrument development are especially encouraged to apply.

Strong candidates will have experience in several of the following areas, including the design and construction of optical, spectroscopic, or imaging instruments, hands-on experience with lasers, optical components, detectors, cameras, filters, lenses, mirrors, and alignment of optical systems, and a background in spectroscopy, imaging, photonics, optics, condensed matter physics, or experimental physics. Experience with data acquisition, signal processing, image analysis, and experimental automation and familiarity with biomedical, biological, chemical, or life-science applications of spectroscopy or imaging is desirable.

Having the ability to independently design experiments, troubleshoot hardware, analyze data, and interpret results is a must. Experience with programming or instrumentation software such as Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or similar platforms is a plus. Strong written and oral communication skills, as well as experience with grant or proposal writing, mentoring graduate or undergraduate students, advising junior researchers, and working in interdisciplinary teams spanning engineering, physics, biology, and medicine is highly desirable.

More details about the project and research group will be provided to candidates invited for interview.
