The NIH National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) is now seeking a highly motivated Physician to fill a Staff Clinician position.
About the position
This positions is part of the NIAA Office of the Clinical Director, under the directions of Dr. David Goldman, at the NIH main campus in Bethesda, Maryland.
The Office of the Clinical Director conducts cutting-edge clinical and translational research aimed at understanding the genetic, neurobiological, and behavioral mechanisms underlying alcohol-use disorder and related conditions. Our research protocols include inpatient and outpatient studies involving human subjects, with an emphasis on integrating clinical phenotyping, neuroimaging, and genomics to advance precision medicine approaches to addiction. The primary responsibilities of this position include the clinical evaluation and medical management of our research participants with alcohol use disorder and co-occurring conditions. This position will also include the design and implementation of new clinical research protocols and, as such, the coordination with a multidisciplinary team of physicians, nurses, psychologists, and research staff. This Staff Clinician will also contribute to protocol data interpretation and the dissemination of research findings. Candidates with a strong interest in clinical research and a track record of scholarly activity in addiction medicine or related fields are especially encouraged to apply.

Qualifications
To be eligible for this position, candidates must have an MD or DO degree, be board-certified or board-eligible in Addiction Medicine, Addiction Psychiatry, Internal Medicine, Psychiatry, or a related specialty, and be eligible for medical licensure in the United States. Experience in the clinical management of substance use disorders, including alcohol use disorder, is required.
Candidates will be evaluated on their clinical expertise, research experience, scholarly accomplishments, and their ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment. The ideal candidate will have experience in clinical research, familiarity with Good Clinical Practice (GCP), and strong communication and teamwork skills.
Salary will be commensurate with education and experience, in accordance with NIH guidelines. The position is available to be filled immediately.
