Metas Solutions, a federal public health agency contractor in Bethesda, Maryland, is now hiring a senior data engineer to join their team.
About the position
Metas Solutions provides strategic consulting, program management, and data-driven analytics to federal public health agencies. We collaborate with federal partners to support the implementation of national public health initiatives, thus driving impactful change through cutting-edge programs.
Metas Solutions is now recruiting two talented Senior Data Engineers to manage and transform complex our data ecosystems into scalable, analysis-ready platforms that inform senior leadership decisions. Data pipeline development, data architecture, and infrastructure optimization will all be part of this position's roles. We are seeking a highly-technical and driven individual capable of building enterprise-level data management systems and working alongside a team of data scientists, operational leaders, and infrastructure architects in efforts to maintain the integrity, scalability, and performance of critical organizational data systems.
Responsibilities of this position include:
- Design, implement, and maintain enterprise‑grade ETL/ELT pipelines using Python and SQL
- Build, optimize, and manage data models, warehouses, and Lakehouse environments (e.g., Databricks)
- Develop processes for ingesting, cleaning, validating, and transforming large‑scale datasets from APIs, relational sources, and unstructured systems
- Implement data quality, metadata management, and governance controls to ensure consistency and trust in analytics workflows
- Collaborate with cloud engineering teams to deploy and manage data solutions on Azure
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and improve pipeline performance using logging, alerting, and CI/CD practices
- Document data architecture, pipeline logic, and operational procedures to enable team collaboration and maintainability

Qualifications
Prospective applicants must have 8 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, and/or database architecture and 6 years of experience in Python and SQL, with experience building scalable ETL/ELT pipelines. Applicants should also have 2 years of experience with cloud data ecosystems such as Azure Data Factory and modern data processing frameworks like Databricks.
Knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases, data modeling, and schema design, as well as data governance, security, and compliance principles for enterprise data environments, is highly-desirable.
Applicants should have a bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, Information Systems, and/or a related field. Experience working with data scientists and analysts on data models and IT infrastructure practices.
