Job

Staff Scientist

The Laboratory of Chromosome Dynamics and Evolution, led by Dr. Takashi Akera, is seeking a highly motivated Staff Scientist to join our Evolutionary Cell Biology lab to study genetic cheating and its consequences on reproduction and speciation using mouse models.

About the position

Join the Takashi Akera Lab at the NIH for a stable Staff Scientist position to explore how selfish genetic elements subverts Mendel’s Law of Segregation to increase their transmission with associated impacts on female fertility. Our research areas include chromosome dynamics during cell division, the evolution of female meiosis, transmission bias by selfish genetic elements, and cell biological basis of species barriers. We use lab mice and other non-model rodent species.
