Job

Postdoctoral Fellow

A postdoctoral fellowship position is now available in the Section on Fibrotic Disorders with the NIH National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism.

About the position

The Section on Fibrotic Disorders investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying fibrosis and alcohol-induced lung injury, with the goals of identifying novel therapeutic targets and developing effective pharmacologic interventions for fibrotic lung disorders.

Prospective candidates will develop and apply computational and statistical approaches to analyze large-scale genomics, 'multi-omics', and 'spatial-omics' datasets to define the biological pathways driving fibrotic inflammatory diseases and evaluate treatment responses.

This fellow will work in a collaborative, multidisciplinary intramural research environment and contribute to data analysis, study design, manuscript preparation, and presentation of findings.

NIH provides outstanding postdoctoral training, including access to seminars, workshops, career development programs, and collaborative research opportunities across Institutes and Centers. The position is open to both U.S. citizens and non-U.S. citizens and is fully supported by NIH intramural funding. The selected candidate will receive a stipend commensurate with experience, along with health insurance and other benefits in accordance with NIH guidelines, which are renewable for up to five years.

They should also possess a strong expertise in computational biology and bioinformatics, experience with network modeling and 'multi-omics' data integration (such as transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics), and strong programming skills in Python, R, or related languages. Excellent written and oral communication skills are also required, as is familiarity with single-cell '-omics', spatial transcriptomics, and/or high-performance computing environments. Preferably, applicants will have experience with large-scale genomics datasets as well as wet lab experience, but these qualifications are not required.
